Boardman Bikes (United Kingdom) - Press Release: The Boardman AIR series has a pretty impressive palmares with multiple Olympic medals under its belt. That made it an exciting challenge to develop for 2018 – how do you improve one of the world’s best? We’ve stuck to the same formula which has proved so successful, but have refined the AIR frameset to make it faster and more real-world rider friendly.

With a brand new truncated aerofoil down tube and seat tube, developed as part of an extensive Aero R&D process, the 2018 AIR offers an even faster ride in any wind direction. The 2018 AIR frame, combined with our new T10 aero fork which takes a standard external brake, delivers gold medal-winning performance with everyday usability.

Aerodynamic performance isn’t much use if the frame doesn’t transfer power to the road efficiently too, but with an oversized PF30 bottom bracket shell and new, tapered box-section chainstays, the AIR frameset makes sure every possible watt makes it to the rear wheel.

Combining our high modulous C10 Carbon AIR frame and forks, a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset and Knight Composite TLA 50mm wheels, the AIR 9.6 offers a high performance package that’s hard to beat. We’ve refined the AIR’s Olympic Gold medal winning DNA with new truncated aerofoil tube profiles, which means the AIR frame and forks deliver maximum speed for your pedalling power.

The aerodynamically efficient frame is complemented by Knight’s T.E.A.M trailing edge technology. Knight have optimised their rims to reduce separation of airflow over the rear edge of the wheel, causing less turbulence as the air hits the frame and the rider. With a broad range of gears and ultra-precise shifting from the Ultegra Di2 groupset, there’s no excuse for not hitting a PB on the AIR 9.6.
