Argon 18 Introduces the Gallium Pro Disc 15th Anniversary Edition

Argon 18 (Canada) - Press Release: Celebrating the past by looking to the future.

2020 marks the 15th anniversary of the flagship Gallium line.

The true test of an all-round road bike may come from its eagerness to launch off the front of the group, cheat the most crushing peaks, and show its confidence in the tight corners of a crit. But the test also comes from the toughest of competitors: time. After 15 years, the Gallium Pro still performs at the top of the category. In 2005 the Gallium was Argon 18’s first foray into monocoque carbon, and in 2009 it pioneered our Optimal Balance System, which has rewarded Argon riders with a choice blend of comfort, weight, and stiffness.

“The original 2005 Gallium was a game changer,” says Gervais Rioux, Argon 18’s founder. “It was our very first monocoque frame. The technology used to manufacture the Gallium enabled us to produce a stiffer and lighter frame that would still be comfortable to ride. This ideal balance has become our constant design goal, and we improve on these benchmarks with each iteration.”

The 15th Anniversary model stays at the top of the field by shaving off 160 grams, and showcasing a new fork built for DT Swiss type 12mm thru axle for industry-standard compatibility. Featuring the original 2005 logo and Gervais Rioux’s signature on the limited-edition model, the Gallium Pro 15th Anniversary Edition is for those who demand the versatility of a thoroughbred road bike with proven pro-level performance.

“The new 15th Anniversary Edition offers tangible improvements that our riders will feel immediately,” says Martin Faubert, VP Product, Argon 18. “Of course, there’s the improved braking power of discs, but with the new weight savings and fork layup, the overall riding experience is what is impressive on this iteration. Be it climbing, on the descents, or in tight sprints, this is a frame with the right reflexes for almost every situation.”

Born a classic, proven at the World Tour, ready for your toughest test: The Gallium Pro 15th Anniversary Edition.

Key features:

The 2020 Gallium Pro 15th Anniversary Edition shaves off 160 grams with no sacrifice to the stiffness and handling characteristics that define the line. The new fork layup prioritises confidence and responsiveness, and integrates the DT Swiss type 12mm standard. This is a simple, rugged and efficient thru axle system that allows hassle-free tire changes. A direct mount rear derailleur hanger offers industry-standard compatibility, and standard 30mm tire clearance provides comfort with no compromise in speed. The Gallium Pro’s World Tour proven geometry is known for race-ready and assured positioning, letting you carve the corners, push the miles and feel rooted in your ride.

About the Gallium line - our flagship road race machine:

Developed for the Pro Tour, our goal for the Gallium has always been the same: design and manufacture the perfect race bike. The Gallium Pro family uses state of the art technology in both 3D modeling and carbon molding to deliver an all-around road and climbing bike built for the ultimate riding experience. Originally launched in 2005, the latest Gallium Pro iteration was introduced at the Criterium du Dauphiné in June 2017 where it was ridden to two stage victories and an GC title. It’s gone on to a streak of victories including stage victories in all the Grand Tours, GC podium finishes at both the Giro and La Vuelta, a stint in Yellow at the TDF 2017, wins in the Spring Classics, National titles as well as multiple podiums in stage races around the world.

The Gallium Pro Disc 15th Anniversary Edition will be available at authorised Argon 18 dealers globally in Fall 2019.
