Bombtrack Bicycle Company (Germany) – "Originally conceived as a more traditional road tourer/brevet bike within last year’s range the Audax has been transformed into a vision for modern endurance road riding", explained the company.
According to Bombtrack, "for long distance riding, steel is undoubtedly the best material for the job. One of the main advantages beside many others: its natural resonance dampens road buzz and produces a ride so compliant that it’s more akin to floating than rolling by keeping stiffness where needed at the same time".
The geometry of the latest Audax has been revised for a less touring and more sportive riding position. Such geometry required shorter chainstays whilst retaining tire and chainring clearance the result of these factors led to the development of Bombtrack custom yoke.
"It comes with all kind of mounts, so for example these triple cage mounts on the Audax' full carbon fork (with through axle). The bike uses components selected for performance but with the solid reliability required for longdistance endurance racing like the Transcontinental Race, the Tuscany Road, the Transatlantic Way or similar. Thanks to the incredibly smooth rolling Hunt Adventure 650b disc wheels used in combination with the WTB Horizon TCS tires the Audax just eats up the miles", added the company.
"So the Shimano 105 is a true benchmark for any groupset and keeps things rolling efficiently whilst the TRP mechanical disc brakes provide plenty of power to slow things down whenever needed. The Audax uses an Investment casted dropout with integrated flat mount disc and a 12mm thru-axle in the rear. Its chainstay has a DI2 exit port - such as the whole frame is prepared for an internal DI2 routing", concluded Bombtrack about the new 2018 Audax.
