Decathlon (Portugal) - Press Release: It is Now Possible to Give a New Life to Used Carbon Bicycles, Electric Bicycles, and Sports Watches.
Driven by the mission "Move People Through the Wonders of Sport," Decathlon is expanding its trade-in service to include carbon bicycles, electric bicycles from other brands, and electronic equipment such as sports watches and smartwatches.
With this expansion, more people will have the opportunity to give a second life to their sports equipment, especially those with products now covered by the service. The process remains simple and accessible, whether for families looking to upgrade their bicycles, beginners wanting to exchange equipment, or regular cyclists. Payment is made conveniently, through a voucher for future purchases or via bank transfer, ensuring flexibility in choice.
For carbon bicycles, users can either deliver their bikes in good condition or, if not intact, inform Decathlon about their condition before delivery. After a detailed visual evaluation, customers will be informed of the estimated value. For electric bicycles, the trade-in covers models with Brose, Bosch, and Shimano components. After checking the battery and validating the item, the procedure follows the same rules as the general trade-in process.
In addition to bicycles, Decathlon also accepts trade-ins of electronic equipment, such as sports watches, including other brands like Garmin and Polar. In this case, customers must delete all personal data from the application to ensure security and privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) before delivering the product.
The trade-in service is a key part of Decathlon's circular strategy, alongside repairs, allowing products to be resold at affordable prices for those who wish to purchase second-hand sports equipment or material. For carbon bicycles, all products are tested and certified by an external provider to ensure they are compliant.
