Eolo-Kometa Rides Into The Giro d’Italia on Aurum and ENVE

Enve (United States) - Press Release: When the Giro d’Italia rolls out of Torino on May 8th for the Stage 1 time trial, one of the 23 invited teams will be Eolo-Kometa. Although it will be the Professional Teams’ first Grand Tour, the fact that the program is part of the Alberto Contador Foundation and has matured under the watchful eye of the multi-time Giro, Tour, and Vuelta winner, Alberto himself, means that the guidance provided to the riders is second to none.

Eolo-Kometa’s roster is multinational; predominantly composed of Italian and Spanish riders who have come up through the Alberto Contador Foundation junior and U23 development programs. In addition to the promoted development riders comes a mix of more experienced veterans that can help lead the team on the road and guide the younger riders, whether it’s timing the sprint leadout, positioning for a climb, or chasing back a break. Team director Stefano Zannatta, a 9-time Giro veteran, has realistic goals for his team’s first Grand Tour. “I think that the least we can do is to try to win a stage, looking carefully at the routes and studying each day carefully to find the right riders. I think we have a good chance to make a good impression and to be worthy of this invitation from the organizers.”

The growth of the team for 2021 goes hand in hand with the introduction of Aurum Bicycles, a brand that Alberto and Ivan Basso have teamed up together on. Having launched in 2020, Aurum has quickly earned a reputation in the European market as delivering one of the highest end, performance road bikes available, and the Eolo-Kometa team is showcasing that in the biggest races on the pro calendar.

Aurum’s Magma with a complete ENVE build is what the riders will be on for everything from the Tuscan gravel roads of Strade Bianche, to the Italian Dolomite climbs of the Giro, to the Spanish hills of San Sebastian Classic. Riders will have their choice of SES 5.6 Disc or SES 3.4 Disc wheels, and can select their preferred option based on the day’s route profile. For time trials, the SES 7.8 and SES Disc wheels are also available.
