Incredible Attacking Display of Riding Sees Team Sunweb Win Second Tour de France Stage

Team Sunweb (France) - Press Release: After tasting sweet success on stage 12 of the Tour de France after some great riding set up Marc Hirschi to take the team’s first win of the race; the team hatched another plan to replicate that success today. Søren Kragh Andersen went solo in the finale, but with the team behind him to halt any chase – taking another fantastic win for Team Sunweb.

With the reduced peloton all back together heading towards the day’s final two climbs, Team Sunweb put their plan in motion with Tiesj Benoot launching a stinging attack on the opening ascent. Benoot was caught and after a lull in pace more attacks flew on the second climb. Stage-winner Hirschi was alert to any danger before he himself launched an attack, drawing some competitors clear. When the pace slowed once more, Søren Kragh Andersen delivered the perfectly timed attack, with a devastating turn of speed to get clear of the bunch. Utilising his time trial and descending skills to perfection and with the team halting any chase behind, Kragh Andersen could sit up and put his arms in the air as he crossed the line – taking a sublime second stage win for Team Sunweb at the Tour de France.
