Purpose of the Role:

To help us execute our category and range plans within clothing, camping and equipment. To help drive growth in Alpkit’s core categories and deliver expectations in sales, stock and margin.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for...

Sales:

  • Working with our product team to deliver relevant and competitive product line plans.
  • Ensuring maximum product availability across multiple ranges.
  • Driving stock-to-shop process for products under your remit – communicating developments with marketing, content, stores and customer service to ensure effective product launch.
  • Ensuring effective web merchandising of clothing, camping and equipment categories.
  • Promotion planning.

 

Stock:

  • In stock management; identifying order requirements.
  • Placing orders with suppliers around the globe (Far East weighting) and managing them through the process from order to delivery.
  • Supplier management: building relationships and relentlessly improving terms.
  • Operate within strict stock value budgets across multiple categories using tools such as WSSI to control stock levels.
  • Identify long stocks; develop and execute methods to tackle them.
  • Managing day to day payments with accounts team. Maintaining payment list out six months.
  • Co-ordinating shipping and delivery. Forwarder management and communicating with Alpkit’s operations teams.
  • Overseeing stock counts and owning stock accuracy for categories in your area of responsibility.

 

Margin:

  • Ensure strict budgetary control over cost and sell to ensure that product developments meet margin expectations and maximise profitability.
  • Delivering commercial and operational sight over the product range: MOQs, lead-times, supply chain efficiency, etc.
  • Minimise drift between planned and achieved margin; understand causes and develop processes to counter.

  • Marketing team.

  • Warehouse.

 

About You:

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a commercial buying or merchandising team.
  • Experience with key merchandising tools such as WSSI.
  • Experience managing supply chains including the Far East.
  • High competence with Microsoft applications with particularly strong Excel skills.
