Race Face (Canada) - Design Engineer.
General Summary:
Race Face & Easton Cycling, with the support of our parent Fox, are continuing to expand. At our facilities in Burnaby, we engineer, produce, distribute and market some of the world’s best bicycle components. With additional manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, we sell to dealers, distributors and original equipment manufacturers around the world.
Position Overview:
Applies engineering principles to design, develop, or modify products from 3D modeling through to production, based on customer feedback, sales requirements, and industry knowledge. Responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects. Provides direction to the design team on areas of focus and expertise.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops new, or complete modifications to, existing products, jigs, fixtures and tools
- Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors
- Ensures completeness of production qualification, including testing and manufacturing capability verification
- Carries out design for manufacturability and prepares manufacturing documentation as required to support product manufacture
- Works with manufacturing team on vendor sourcing, selection, and contract negotiations
- Provides direction to factories and suppliers on processes
- Collaborates with development team to meet project performance, schedule and cost objectives
- Engages production team to review drawings, documents, and CAD models
- Communicates project status and solicits feedback from Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments
- Develops experimental test procedures, including test rig design and data acquisition
- Carries out physical testing of products
- Travels as required to meet with vendors and customers
Knowledge/Skills:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of product development experience
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Must have experience with engineering tools such as 3D Modeling, FEA, and dFMEA
- Requires strong knowledge of complex mechanical mechanisms and assemblies, materials and manufacturing processes
- Strong bicycle component knowledge, including mechanical aptitude in building and troubleshooting bicycles and components is a benefit
