KTM (Austria) – The fully integrated cables lead to new measures in terms of Aerodynamic. Not only the frame, all parts of the bike are causing wind resistance when they are faced frontal or sideways.
Therefore KTM R&D team collaborated with experienced aerodynamics engineer from sport motorcycles in order to analyze the airstream, crosswind and headwind under different speed and conditions. Thus they created a priority list, which showed, that first wind turbulences have to be minimized and the surface profile as well as the cross sections of the tubes are secondary.
Based on aerodynamic demands for road-bikes and the UCI- guidelines the frame structure got optimized by a mix of aerodynamic, stiffness, weight and shock absorption. The integrated stem is the core of the innovative aero concept and favors the user-friendly and hassle free “Top to Bottom” routing.
According to KTM, “No matter if mechanical or electronic (Di2 / e-Tap) shift system, the new KTM Aero Racer is ready to face the upcoming challenges”.
