18 months of development. 5 years in the making:

Arguably South Africa’s first “ Superbike” – the original VIPA was the first Full Carbon Full Suspension Bike to be designed and developed in South Africa.

Having launched the first VIPA in March 2013 at the Absa Cape Epic, 5 years has passed and we once again debuted our new bike at the 2018 edition of the Epic – the new Ultra.

A lot has changed since early 2013 and with the evolution of MTB geometry coupled with refined suspension technology and a host of new industry standards, our newest member of the Vipa family is now ready to step up to the plate.

Whilst many of our competitors choose to either adapt their XC race bikes for Stage Racing or tame their Enduro offerings with reduced rear wheel travel - we have gone All-In on the design of the new Ultra.

This is a purpose-built and designed Stage Race Bike.

Unashamedly Focused. Zero compromise:

With a significantly longer reach and a very short 40mm stem the bike is both agile and stable.

The extra 20mm (compared to the original Vipa) of rear wheel travel adds a significant increase in comfort whilst traction feels a notch or two above the previous generation.

In-frame toptube storage:

The new Vipa Ultra features an integrated storage compartment at the front of the toptube, complete with a durable zipper bag. This offers you easy access to on-the-go essentials like nutrition, tools, repair and items typically stowed away in your pockets.

In-frame downtube storage:

A second integrated storage compartment located on the bottom of the downtube features a robust click-in cover that is perfect for storing additional CO2 cartridges, repair tools and items where access is not required on the move.

Built for racing under the harshest conditions, the new Vipa Ultra caters for optimum hydration throughout even the longest days in the saddle.

The new Vipa Ultra features dual, full size 750ml water bottle capacity within the front triangle and the option of a third on the underside of the downtube ensuring optimum hydration.

Flip Chip technology:

The new Vipa Ultra’s flip chip allows true adjustment of your geometry/suspension for specific terrain. With 2 positions, Slack or Steep, you are free to setup your Ultra for comfort (Slack – for long, non-technical courses) or for agility (Steep – for short, technical courses).

Simple Hex-key adjustment that can be done in 2 minutes. (Note: running a 120mm Fork in Steep position mimics 100mm Fork in Slack position).

Availability and pricing:

Initially only available as a Frame-Kit with 2 frame sizes (Size 01 and Size 02) the first batch of frames are now available in Size 01 (see website for sizing calculator) with Size 02 available next month.
