Northwave (Italy) - There are some really good reasons to say that the new top-range road shoes by Northwave, Extreme RR (Road Race), are the most performing model ever produced by the Italian brand: a new design, a stiffer sole and, above all, the revolutionary XFrame® patented technology, finally eliminating for good the long-time issue of most of the riders: the points of pressure of the upper on the foot.

Extreme RR is able to make pressure points a long-gone memory thanks to a new upper construction, made of new generation materials: inner mesh for increased comfort, a stiffened mid layer for even support through the support, and a 0,5 mm highly wear-resistant outer film for protection.

What makes Extreme RR a game changer is the combination of such ultra-soft and comfortable materials with a redesigned closure that sets new benchmarks in terms of fit uniformity around the entire foot. With XFrame, the performance of Northwave’s exclusive SLW2 dial – allowing step-to-step and complete release with only one trigger – is enhanced by the innovative route of the cable on the upper.

A complex system of angles, designed with geometric precision through special tapes, creates a unique frame over the upper to provide the snuggest and most even fit ever, eliminating the pressure points while being extremely easy to adjust with only one SLW2 rotor. No detail was left unchecked: Northwave picked Dyneema instead of steel as material for the SLW2 wire. Dyneema is highly-resistant, but also soft: that means much better adaptation to the foot anatomy, eventually leading to a better and more precise fit, with no pressure points.



All of that also results in the best possible performance, as all the power is effectively transmitted on the pedals, also thanks to the best-performing Northwave sole ever: Ultralight Carbon 15, made of 100% unidirectional carbon combined with a reinforced layer, boasting a stiffness index of 15.0. Extreme RR is also compatible with Northwave’s Speedplay adaptor, for the minimum distance between foot and pedal.

The slick and elegant design reflects Northwave’s philosophy in designing Extreme RR: less is more. Materials and components are exactly what’s needed to provide the maximum performance: that’s why Extreme RR’s weight stands at only 220 gr. In addition, two footbeds with a stiffened dual density design are also provided for improved fit: Pro Regular Fit and Pro Slim Fit which features an extra 2 mm toe insert for narrow feet.
