ORTLIEB Sportartikel GmbH (Germany) - Bikepacking has evolved from a niche sport to one of the 2019 season’s most popular biking trends. Thanks to an expanded range of off-road/on-road bikes, including mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes, gravel grinders and hybrid bikes, bikepacking has taken up its rightful position next to the classic bike tour in the pantheon of outdoor adventure activities.

In keeping with this development – and right on time for the start of the bike season – the Heilsbronn-based outdoor specialist ORTLIEB presented a range of new bikepacking products at the Sea Otter Classic Festival in Monterey, California. These new waterproof, made-in-Germany packs were presented by Jeff Scully, President of ORTLIEB USA LLC, and Martin Esslinger, Head of Sales at ORTLIEB Sportartikel GmbH, with special attention being given to the Atrack BP for bikepacking. The Atrack family of products has already received multiple awards within the outdoor equipment industry. For instance, the Atrack won an OUTDOOR INDUSTRY GOLD Award at the OutDoor Exhibition in 2018 and the Atrack ST (Short Torso) won a GOLD AWARD at the ISPO Munich at the beginning of 2019.

While specifically made for bikepacking, the Atrack BP is ideal for adventures of all kinds, including packrafting, snowshoeing and other (overnight) activities in the great outdoors. The waterproof Atrack BP combines features cherished by bikepackers with the multi-functionality of the Atrack line of products. The Atrack BP is full-fledged outdoor backpack, a custom bikepack and a travel bag all in one.

The Atrack BP is specially designed to accommodate the needs of bikers. In addition to its reduced (biker-optimized) hip fins, the backpack distinguishes itself in terms of its streamlined silhouette, its helmet holder and its overall design. Despite its 25-liter capacity, the length of the Atrack BP’s back panel is infinitely adjustable. This feature, along with the breathable material used for the back panel and the reduced waist belt, helps to ensure optimal weight distribution and comfort. The pack also accommodates the convenient integration of a hydration system without sacrificing its waterproof properties.

In addition the new Atrack BP, the Bavarian experts for bike touring bags have impressively expanded their bikepacking line with a limited edition entirely in black. The Seat-Pack, the Handlebar-Pack and the Frame-Pack Toptube will be available in this limited edition at selected specialist dealers and at ORTLIEB website from mid-June. The Atrack BP will be available as early as mid-May.
