Pidcock wins thrilling world title

INEOS Grenadiers (United Kingdom) - Press Release: A superb Tom Pidcock performance saw him become the first British man to win an an elite mountain bike XCO world title in Glentress Forest.

In a thrilling race, Pidcock fought to the front from 55th on the grid to first catch, then overtake the lead group.

He then increased his advantage in the final two laps and maintained the gap to deny a late surge from Sam Gaze (New Zealand) and secure his first mountain bike world title.

The Yorkshire rider adds the world crown to his 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal and 2022 European championship victory to complete an impressive mountain bike hat-trick.

Tom Pidcock Reaction:

"The first five laps were super fast and it was tough to come back from where I was. After last year, I knew what to expect and the World Champs is another level from the World Cups."

"It's been a long week. Obviously this was a big goal of mine, so to pull it off for the home crowd is pretty special."
