The New Glen MX from Last Bikes

The New Glen MX from Last Bikes

Last Bikes (Germany) - Press Release: "The GLEN MX with its 29" front and 27.5" rear gives me the perfect mix of stability and agility. The smaller rear wheel offers me more flexibility in steep and technical terrain. Especially for me as a smaller rider it is optimal. Manuals, cutting corners, pulling off and moving the bike on jumps - the GLEN MX runs super playful with lots of grip through the 29" front wheel." - Betti Lysko, LAST Factory Team.

Features:

  • The Glen MX has an optimized geometrie for an 27,5" rear wheel and all known features of the GLEN.
  • The progressive suspension system is suitable for air and coil shocks. It is sensible and offers mid stroke support.
  • From trail to enduro - the combination of 29" front wheel and 27,5" rear wheel offers maximum control und agility.
  • Bearings of best quality and precise 5-axis CNC machining means Total Bearing Quality.
  • The MX - Link is manufactured in Germany and can be upgraded at the GLEN. The frame is robust and reliable.
  • Each GLEN MX is custom-built as a frame kit or complete bike in Dortmund, Germany. Just contact us for mor information.

Geometry:

The new GLEN MX is based on the successful geometrie of our GLEN with all its advantages: besides our significantly flat head angle we extesively adjusted the geometry to the size of the frame by optimizing the length of the chain stays and the effective seat angle.

The main reason why we use a 29er as a base for the GLEN MX: the geometry values can be better maintained at a constant good level. The MX-Link compensates the smaller wheel diameter at the rear wheel. So bottom braket height, head angle, seat angle, etc. are maintained without significant changes. Because of this it is possible to use the advantages of the small rear wheel.

"In the recent past, several EWS racers have equipped their 27,5" bikes with 29er forks and front wheels and used them successfully in races. The reason was usually that a 29er was not available. To be able to use the advantages of the large front wheel in terms of rollover behavior and grip, the riders were forced to make compromises, which they did - which shows how big the advantages must be. The compromises consisted aof a sharp flattening of head- and seat angle, as well as a higher bottom bracket and a shorter reach. The changes result from the higher axle position of the front wheel axle due to the bigger 29er wheel and the large overall height of 29er forks. They are unavoidable with the same susoension travel of the fork, but this is not a sensible option either." - Jochen Forstmann | Founder and CEO at LAST.

The GLEN MX avoids these disadvantages completely, because it is based on a 29er. In this context it could be called a second generation bike - whith different wheel sizes.

The advantages of the 27,5" rear wheel are especially useful for smaller riders: the freedom of movement is increased in steep sections for larger jumps, drops and manuals.

Due to the short seat tubes, bikers with long torsos or long arms can choose a frame size bigger than normal. This also works vice versa if a seatpost is used that is long enough. The seat tube is designed in a way that the seat post does not conflict with the bolt of the rocker arm and can be slammed down all the way.
