The New Scultura Team – Streamlined Race Compliance

Merida (Taiwan) - Press Release: Less weight, less drag - and more comfortable too? If you thought it couldn’t be done, then meet the bike that will prove you wrong; the new 2022 SCULTURA TEAM. Building on the unquestioned heritage of our lightweight road bike range, we’ve drastically reduced drag, boosted the comfort to new levels and all while shaving off precious grams to deliver a versatile, World Tour proven, race-winning weapon.

Since its introduction in 2006, the SCULTURA TEAM has always stood for lightweight, compliance,
responsiveness, ‘classic’ good looks and proven racing performance, resulting in a machine that’s always been the go-to bike for our World Tour teams. The race-winning heritage has continued even before the official launch, with the fifth generation of SCULTURA TEAM already adding four World Tour wins to its trophy cabinet, well before its release.

While the SCULTURA has always shone when its lightweight climbing credentials or its fatigue reducing compliance was called for, so we set out to improve these aspects even further for the new SCULTURA TEAM while also raising the bar on its aero credentials.

In comparison to its predecessor, the new SCULTURA TEAM frame is more than 4% lighter, noticeably
more comfortable due to the ability to run up to 30 mm wide tyres and increased seatpost extension,
drastically more aerodynamic thanks to the complete cable integration and one-piece cockpit, updated
headtube and fork profile and lowering of the seat stays attachment points (amongst other things).

The end result, the all-new SCULTURA TEAM, is still the versatile and lightweight all-rounder it has always been, but its ability to perform at the highest levels has been boosted even further by these changes. Greater comfort means less fatigue, while drag reduction is now significantly improved by around 10 watts compared with its predecessor, all while easily achieving the 6.8 kilograms UCI limit.

As mentioned before, the fifth generation of the SCULTURA TEAM continued its winning streak from the day it was handed to Team Bahrain-Victorious, by winning two stages in the Critérium du Dauphiné
underneath Mark Padun, one in the Tour de France, ridden by Dylan Teuns and one by Damiano Caruso in the Vuelta a España. In its short presence on the World Tour stage, the new SCULTURA TEAM already proved itself as the perfect sidekick to aero focused REACTO, given the team as well as other road enthusiasts the perfect choice between lightweight, outstanding compliance and improved aero capabilities of the SCULTURA or class-leading air slicing abilities of the REACTO.
