Vertigo speed for the first stage:
The head of the race has marked a demolishing rhythm in the first part of the route in ascent at an average speed of 30 kilometres per hour. All this taking into account the high dose of trails that contained the day in its intermediate and final stretch. The fallen showers have swept the dust of the track leaving the stretches of sand in perfect condition, making them faster.
As for the competition, the pace has been quite high since the start., With a first part all rise - not too steep, in which appeared a front trio formed by the German Zwiehoff, along with the Polish Bartlomiej Wawak and the Danish Jonas Lindberg, followed by a second group in which were also some of the favorites such as the Austrians Karl Markt and Gregor Raggl, the Italian Nadir Colledani and the Spaniard Sergio Mantecón, quadruple winner of this event.
By km 21, half of the way, the Italian Colledani, with the German Zwiehoff and the Wacoak short, stuck on their heels, followed by a group of pursuers. Karl Markt and the rest of this group started the second part of the downhill towards Club La Santa at a speed of around 50 km per hour, closing the gap to the leading group which ended in deciding the victory in a tight sprint in which the Polish Bartlomiej Wawak would prevail with 1h 26 minutes 10 seconds, followed by Jonas Lindberg and Ben Zwiehoff in second and third place. Sergio Mantecón who was relegated to fourth place by the photo finish. The winner Wawak has been a gold medalist in the European Marathon Championship and Polish champion in several categories
