“Cycling is unique in that sense,” says Vellow’s founder, Ken MacLean. “Some people are a bit more introverted or humble when it comes to overt expressions of their inner personalities, but cycling gives you the social license to push the fashion envelop. It’s another element of what makes the sport so much fun.”

While strong graphics and color are important, Vellow understands that its customers are also focused on performance. “Riders are drawn to our product because of our bold designs. But they don’t just have to look good,” says MacLean. “They need to perform and deliver comfort in the saddle too.”

To that end, Vellow produces its items in Europe with its Italian manufacturing partner. “Our partner works with some of the biggest brands in the industry. It was important for us to demonstrate out of the gate that we have a reputable production process in place that retailers and riders can rely on. It also gives us access to the best lab-tested technical fabrics in the industry.”
