Bont Cycling (Australia) – Integrated cable wiring system adds new dimension to fit.

BONT Cycling, renowned for their race-proven anatomic fit, has added a deeper dimension to fit with the new Helix road shoe. Near a year in development, its innovative cable closure system takes fit to a whole new level – literally, a level just below the surface.

While the Helix may resemble other BONT Cycling shoes on the exterior - particularly the high performance Vaypor S - this new road shoe features a proprietary cable integration system that is a completely new approach to closure. Using the BOA system, BONT has developed a cable structure that goes into the upper, all around the shoe, through the carbon chassis and back through the other side of the upper.

The single BOA dial simplifies function for quick and easy on-the-fly adjustments. The system, in combination with an overlapping upper, allows for more adjustment and volume control. The continuous wiring spreads the load for a secure hold without localized pressure points.

BONT Cycling’s CEO and designer explains, “The Vaypor S has been our standard for race fit but I still wanted to find a way to improve upon it, particularly for riders with a low volume foot. The cable integration system has allowed us to keep the weight low, while adding even more to the concept of custom fit. Working with BOA and taking the wire completely around the shoe, we are able to ultimately fine-tune the fit and control the volume adjustment.”

The new Helix also features BONT Cycling’s proven features including the unidirectional monocoque carbon sole, a TPU ventilated toe protector, and a lightweight Durolite upper and tongue. Integral to BONT Cycling shoe designs is the anti-stretch feature of the shoe, which prevents the shoe from stretching with wear.

The new 230 gram Helix (weight per shoe based on a size 42) is available now, retails for $399 and comes in four colors: shiny red/white, metallic blue/white, black/gold, black/white, and white/charcoal. The Helix, like other BONT Cycling shoes, can be heat molded in a conventional oven.
