DAHON North America Inc. (Japan) - New Arrangement will Strengthen Position in Japan.

DAHON, the world leader in folding bikes, is pleased to announce that it has signed licensing agreements with longstanding Japanese distributors Akibo and Takeda. The licensing agreement will see the two companies take over the distribution of the DAHON brand in Japan.

This new arrangement will allow the companies to use the brand names “DAHON” and “DAHON International” respectively, for all categories of bike products, including folding bikes, regular bikes and accessories, with maximum differentiation between the 2 brands. The licensees can procure products from either DAHON or Approved Third-Party Manufacturers (ATMs). Each 10-year license entails a considerable prepayment and royalties on wholesale revenues and is expected to further strengthen the already famous brand’s position in Japan.

Under this new arrangement, the two companies are set to take over the exclusive distribution of differentiated DAHON-branded folding bicycles, among other categories in Japan and will promise improved services in the country as well as optimizing quality, delivery and cost for the market. All other DAHON customers in Japan, online and off-line, will work directly with Akibo and Takeda for purchasing, service and the like.
