Giant Bicycles (Taiwan) - Press Release: Giant has added two premium road bike models featuring all-new, cutting-edge components from SRAM to its current lineup. With the introduction of SRAM RED eTap AXS, a new wireless electronic road groupset, Giant created two pro-level race machines to optimize the advantages of this high-performance componentry.

The TCR Advanced SL Disc RED and Propel Advanced SL Disc RED are each integrated with this premium new groupset to blend Giant’s unrivaled composite frame engineering with intuitive drivetrain components that deliver a wider range of gears, precise control, and incredible insight into the performance of both rider and bike.

The SRAM RED eTap AXS groupset introduces its 12-speed X-Range gearing system with a wider gear range and closer progression so that the rider is always in the right gear. It features SRAM’s new Orbit chain management system and a unique Flattop chain for a quiet, secure and smooth ride—whether you’re riding paved roads, gravel or dirt.

For the TCR Advanced SL Disc RED, this means an improved range of gears for climbing mountains faster, chasing down breakaways, and sprinting for the finish. All the situations our “Total Race Bike” is built for. These components are the perfect complement to this versatile road machine, and the wireless electronic drivetrain gives you a clean, user-friendly setup with incredibly precise shifting.

The Propel Advanced SL Disc RED is all about speed. Proven by some of the fastest pro sprinters in the world, this aero rocketship offers integrated aerodynamics, the added control of disc brakes, and an incredible stiffness-to-weight ratio that makes it ultra-efficient for sprinting and riding solo against the wind. The new SRAM RED eTap AXS groupset brings even more integrated performance with its precision electronic shifting setup.

Both new road bikes feature the new SRAM RED AXS crankset, which is designed specifically for electronic shifting. The unique chainring shape results in a lighter, stiffer crankset, and SRAM’s new DUB bottom bracket delivers added durability and simplicity. The crankset also features a fully integrated Quarq DZero power meter that measures left and right legs separately, a key performance advantage for serious racers and road riders.

Front shifting is managed by the new SRAM RED eTap AXS front derailleur, which offers faster shifting and a streamlined design for added rear tire clearance. The SRAM RED eTap AXS rear derailleur is also new and features an improved motor and signal travel for lightning fast shifts. Larger pulleys and ceramic bearings improve durability and efficiency, and SRAM’s Orbit chain management technology keeps the drivetrain quiet and secure.

The drivetrain is fully wireless and controlled with the SRAM RED eTap AXS HRD shifter/brake levers. These comfortable control units have newly textured shift paddles and hoods, and the brake levers control hydraulic disc brakes that are integrated with flat mounts on our composite frames and forks. And the new SRAM AXS app allows you to see battery status, change component behavior, personalize controls, get maintenance reminders, and update firmware.

One of the key components to the new drivetrain is the new SRAM RED XG-1290 cassette. Each one features a 10-tooth small cog and is designed specifically for wireless electronic shifting. They feature more gradual gear progression between cogs—at least five one-tooth jumps—while still offering a wider range. The one-piece steel X-Dome design offers maximum weight savings.

The cassette integrates seamlessly with Giant WheelSystems. The TCR Advanced SL Disc RED comes with the Giant SLR-0 42 Disc, while the Propel Advanced SL Disc Red has Giant SLR 0 Aero Disc wheels featuring a 42mm deep front rim and 65mm deep rear rim for the perfect balance of wind-slicing aerodynamics and stability in crosswinds.
