Strider Education Foundation Launches All Kids Bike Campaign

Strider Bikes (United States) - All Kids Bike is a nationwide movement of the Strider Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rallies parents, educators, community leaders, health officials, and generous donors to place the Learn-To-Ride Program in Kindergarten PE classes in public schools for free. The mission of All Kids Bike is to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in Kindergarten PE class. The Kindergarten PE Program equips schools with everything needed to teach children how to ride bikes, including teacher training and certification, a structured 8-lesson curriculum, a fleet of 22 Strider 14x Balance Bikes, 22 Pedal Conversion Kits, 22 fully-adjustable helmets, and a five-year support plan. Designed to be taught in 8 integrative lessons, the curriculum begins with the simple goal of teaching a child how to move, balance, and stop while on a two-wheeled balance bike. Midway through the curriculum, the bikes are converted from balance-mode to pedal-mode with the goal of each student pedaling a bike independently. This progressive-based approach aligns with SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards so it can seamlessly be integrated to the educator’s year-long physical education programming.

The Strider Education Foundation believes that learning to ride a bike builds confidence that has the power to transform lives. Riding a bike increases health and happiness, epands opportunities, and creates a can-do attitude for like. The SEF vvalujes riding as a life skill that provides numerous benefits such as exercise, adventure, transportation, exploration, mobility, competition, independence, socialization and fun. Riding a bike is considered a key developmental milestone for children at the age of 5. Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity or ability to learn this skill on their own. The All Kids Bike program provides everything needed in one simple kit to teach kids of all ages and abilities two-wheeled balance, coordination, and confidence. It also helps facilitate the development of healthy lifestyle habits.

Every $10 donated teaches one child to ride.Designed to be zero cost to the school, the Kindergarten PE Program is dependent on the generosity of donors. All money donated to the Strider Education Foundation is used to equip schools with bikes and helmets, train teachers on the curriculum, and teach kids how to ride. A $4,000 donation provides a complete Kindergarten PE Program to a school of the donor's choice, serving all kindergarten students for the next 5 years.

Currently, the program is implemented in 129 schools in 25 states, meaning an estimated 64,000 kids will learn to ride over the next 5 years. With the help of generous donors more and more children get to learn to ride a bike. The end goal of All Kids Bike is to have every child in America being taught to ride a bike before entering the first grade.
